After a preliminary study on elderly and care, I decided to design a multifunctional space in Beringen Mine. A multipurpose building that serves both the elderly and children in a public as well as in a private setting. It is a building that offers various functions and activities and most of all is designed to encourage meetings of both age groups. This creates a sense of community among the elderly and is a way to keep them active and engaged while creating a safe and nurturing environment for the children to learn and play in. This space is created in the central green lung of Beringen Mine. that makes the sense of community even more present, making the elderly feel more a part of it.
