Project - Tumainiel Naychan
Engulfed by Hasseltsesteenweg, Korselsesteenweg and Pieter BrugelStraat sits a fairly dormant block at a walking distance from the Beringen market. As part of the extension of the group theme, this project aims at establishing a bike and pedestrian connection between the market and Pieter BrugelStraat via the block. This intervention has a few important implications to the whole block and its surrounding roads. This project is also part of an initiative to bring the community together through the green park and give people a more natural taste of the environment as opposed to the very mineral market square. The main objectives of the project is to revitalize the block by introducing a public park and establishing a more walkable connection with Beringen market. This implication of these objectives have seen the block get more breathing space by creating pedestrian and bicycle outlets. There has also been a necessity to introduce a pavilion at the core of the park that acts as a focal point. This pavilion bears functions that serve the public by acting as a social condenser.
